Stop 4 Travel Log | Tail of the Dragon

Today we headed down to two of the best places in the country to really experience the power and performance of the Porsche Boxster —- Tail of the Dragon and Cherohala Skyway along the North Carolina and Tennessee border. These roads are no joke. One has tight, constant switchbacks and the other with sweeping turns and huge views.

I met up with Ezra Dyer, Men’s Journal’s car expert and contributing editor. This driving legend loves cars more than anyone I’ve ever met, as he should, its his J-O-B! Pushing my red Porsche Boxster to the max, me “the little grasshopper” in the passenger seat and him “the sensei” in the driver’s seat, we mastered the car through every curve.

On our way to Cherohala, Ezra jumped into another Porsche Boxster to let me get behind the wheel and follow him. When I say follow him, what I really mean try to keep up. I am not going to tell you exactly how fast we were going, but we were definitely pushing the cars to the limit. That is what you’re supposed to do in a Porsche Boxster… go fast!

  1. I have a silver Boxster with black leahter which I drive on a race track regularly (about 18 times a year). Porsche’s well known for high performance engines, outstanding handling characteristics, and classic design. Porsche’s always incorporate the latest in automotive technology and many times Porsche actually invents the technology that everyone else copy’s later. Porsche’s are not trendy or are part of some kind of fad. They stand the test of time. They are the gold standard of the automotive world. I also own two BMW’s and while BMW’s are very nice cars they do not drive as well as my Porsche.
